Dr. Christopher Robinson, LMSW, has been a social justice advocate, educator, and licensed social worker for over 20 years. Robinson serves as Associate Professor of Social Work at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Previously, Robinson was the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program Director and Assistant Professor of Social Work at Pennsylvania State University's Greater Allegheny Campus near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before joining the faculty at Penn State, Robinson spent eleven years at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), where he led the Associate of Science program in Social Work at the CCAC South Campus. Robinson also served as the Manager of Cultural Competency for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Center for Engagement and Inclusion, where he collaborated and developed strategic diversity initiatives focusing on culturally competent patient care, eliminating health disparities, enhancing language access services, and reducing community trauma.
Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Dr. Robinson's academic journey is as impressive as his professional one. He holds a BSW from historically Black Jackson State University, an MSW from the University of Pittsburgh, and a doctorate in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His academic excellence has been recognized with the University of Pittsburgh Distinguished Alumni Award for Social Work Education in 2021 and the Pittsburgh Magazine 40 under 40 Award in 2023.
